Adam. Splenda is artificially tasting sugar that has 0, or very little amount of calories. It is quite new, so the side effects are not very well known.

I don't think it can hurt her, at least that's, what research says. But one side effect that is coming out about artificial sweeteners is, that people who use them crave more sweet stuff, more sugar. So it works kind of like a drug. You always want more.

So if I could give you wife advice, I would tell her to use as little of that stuff as possible. It is not natural, it is artificially made and everything what's processed is generally bad for us.

Other consideration would be: is your wife overweight or not? If she's not, she should use normal sugar, its more natural and I think healthier than splenda. But if she is overweight, than switching to normal sugar could be more harmful. It could cause additional weight gain and subsequently higher health risks.

Thanks for your question Adam.

Hey Milan, you said too much sugar is a bad thing. What about Splenda?

My wife takes too much of that sucralose sugar thinking it is okay.

Let me know as I do not think it is a good idea to put 3 packets of Splenda (equals to 6 teaspoons of sugar) into every cup of tea.

Thanks,
Adam
